Honorable Josiah Crosby (1816-1904), the son of Oliver and Harriet Crosby. Born in Dover, N.H., the Honorable Josiah Crosby was a very prominent barrister who practiced his trade in Dexter for some sixty years. Crosby was schooled at Foxcroft Academy and later graduated from Bowdoin College in the Class of 1835. His name comes up in every noted legal dispute in Dexter for over a half century, including: the Barron Murder, the Express Office burglary, and the Town Farm scandal.
