"Old Fannie" is shown here with the meat cart from Frank R. Curtis' meat market, in the days before refrigeration or sanitation, about 1870. The shop was one of several meat markets that occupied this store on Grove Street, in the basement of the store built by Jonathan Farrar in 1835 (which also went through several owners). At this point it was Jenkins & Hill gorcers. The Dexter Oil Company occupies this spot now.
